What your eye doctor does not tell you: Do you suffer from infections, rashes or pimples behind your ears?
62Do you wear eye glasses? If you do, you may suffer from rashes, irritations, pimples and more. What your eye doctor does not tell you when you purchase your glasses is that you need to not only wash your lenses, but disinfect your ear pieces. I had been plagued for years (since I was in the third grade) with these issues. I no longer do.
How do I avoid these issues?
- Wash at least twice a day, or more if you sweat, behind your ears. You remember when your mother would tell you in the bath to wash behind your ear. Do! As adults we become busy and forget this tried an true rule. I see it a lot in the elderly. Behind your ears is skin, skin flakes and if not taken care of will cause a lot of trouble.
- Once a day, at least, disinfect your ear pieces on your glasses. Use rubbing alcohol on a cotton ball or use alcohol prep pads to cleanse and disinfect those ear pieces. Do the same if you wear earrings. Male or female, you need to disinfect those earrings in rubbing alcohol, this will also cause irritations, infections and rashes behind the ear not to mention your earring hole.
- If you do get an infection, rashes or pimples - neosporin can help or go to your doctor. There is a liquid he can give you to drip on the back of your ears to help along with cleansing or disinfecting your ear pieces
- Opt for contact lenses. Many people do not realize that the technology in contact lenses allow people that normally could not wear them - they can now! Ask your eye doctor if you are a good candidate for contact lenses.
Whether it is behind your ears, your neck or your peri area, clean, cleanse, moisturize and keep yourself dry. You will not regret it.
